US Teen Allegedly Shot Dead By 9.Y.O Brother Over A Gaming Controller

A 13-year-old from Monroe County, Mississippi has died from her injuries after allegedly being shot by her 9-year-old brother following an argument over a video game controller.

As reported by local news outlet WTVA, authorities arrived at the scene at around 1pm on Saturday, local time. Sheriff Cecil Cantrell told the media that it is their understanding that the boy got hold of the gun when the girl refused to relinquish the controller. According to the AP, Cantrell said that the boy shot the girl in the back of the head, with the bullet passing through the girl’s brain.

She was rushed to Le Bonheur’s Children’s Hospital, later succumbing to her injuries. According to WTVA, the children’s mother was in an adjacent room when the gun was fired.

Cantrell said that they are unsure how the boy got hold of the gun. The case is being investigated by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
