Confirmed Horndog Tony Abbott Confesses To Reading ‘50 Shades Of Grey’

Let it never be said that Tony Abbott did not make cursory efforts towards comprehending what the horny mums of Australia were reading at any given point during his prime ministership.

In an interview with 2GB over the weekend, Abbott discussed his pop culture and literary interests, and confessed something many had long believed: he has indeed read E.L. James‘ BDSM-lite erotica Fifty Shades of Grey. And he simply didn’t enjoy it:
I didn’t think it was a great book at all I think, because it was being much talked about at the time, I might have picked it up at an airport bookshop and thought I should at least become familiar with this talking point but I have to say it was a few hours that could easily have been better spent.

“Familiar with this talking point?” Mate, let’s be real. You bought Fifty Shades so you could have a quick and filthy sex read on an airplane. No shame in it, ya grub.

Abbott said he generally liked to read thrillers, and also said that he believed Downton Abbey to be a “masterpiece” and that he found Game of Thrones “absolutely enthralling”.
There you have it, guys: the bastion of Australian conservatism reads schlocky porno books too.
