Commercial Tanning Beds Banned Throughout Most of Australia

Bad news for fans of lying in confined spaces and having UV rays shot at you – commercial solariums are officially being banned in Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria.

Per an ABC News report, the ban is not necessary in the Northern Territory, because there are no commercial tanning bed operators there, because have you fucking stepped outside in the Northern Territory?
The Cancer Council say that every one in six melanomas detected in young people comes from tanning bed use, and that 280 malignant melanomas are attributable to them every year.
Researchers have found that frequent exposure to UV rays can become addictive, one reason why regular users keep coming back for those sweet, sweet rays, in spite of the risks.
Commercial operators have been offered up to $2000-per-tanning bed in a government buyback scheme, although there are many beds currently on sale on Gumtree, with prices of up to $10,000.
If you want something huge and expensive that guzzles insane amounts of power and might give you cancer … it actually sounds like you’re living the dream, so go ahead and snap one up.
Western Australia and Tasmania are yet to enforce the bans, but in other states, the ban will kick in from December 31.
