Clock-Making Teen Ahmed Slaps Texas City With $15M Damages Claim

Texas’ City of Irving have dun goofed at every stage of Ahmed Mohamed’s clock-saga, and their categorical fuck-ups have finally been translated into an impending US$15 million suit.
The little legend and his family have now called for the city and its school district to cough up that hefty chunk of change in response to, well, treating the 14-year-old like absolute trash, even after the incident (ICYMI, he was arrested and suspended after bringing a homemade clock to school, after a teacher thought it was a bomb).
After being through all of those baseless allegations – again, on charges that amounted to zip – the Mohamed family still haven’t received a formal apology.
A letter to the city from the family sums it up pretty well:

“Ahmed never threatened anyone, never caused harm to anyone, and never intended to. The only one who was hurt that day was Ahmed, and the damages he suffered were not because of oversight or incompetence…

“The school and city officials involved knew what they needed to do to protect Ahmed’s rights. They just decided not to do it.”

Irving’s attorney is yet to respond to the call for damages, as they are presumably still finding new and exciting ways to make the city look worse.

The Mohameds are now living in Qatar after Ahmed copped a full-ride scholarship, and it’s lookin’ like the fam could soon be doing a whooole lot better over there than in Texas.

A few more million in the kid’s bank account (and a few thousand kilometres from some legit ignorance) and ol’ mate could probably make the step up from clocks to actual time machines.
