Clive Palmer’s Wife, Anna, Is Having A Crack At Entering Queensland Parliament

Lifted straight from the pages of “every sitcom plot ever” a workin’ man is shocked when he arrives at the office to discover his stay-at-home-wife has gotten a job in the same field he works in! Oh, crumbs! *laugh track, throw to commercial*

Supreme hutt of the Palmer United Party, Clive Palmer could soon be putting his towncar in the carpool lane. His wife, Anna Palmer, has declared her intentions to attempt to enter parliament (in Queensland).
The Gold Coast state seat of Gaven is currently held by independent MP Dr Alex Douglas, who quit the Palmer United Party in August citing a “jobs for the boys” culture. In response to this, Clive Palmer’s wife is seeking preselection for the PUP to challenge for the seat. You can’t make this stuff up.
Speaking at a press conference, Clive stated: “There are three great candidates going up for preselection in the next two weeks to make a final determination, and one of them is my wife Anna. I think we have got a lot of PUP supporters inside Gaven and, after all, it was held by our party until Alex Douglas spat the dummy.”

“Now it is a chance to return back to the Palmer United Party, maybe under my wife or maybe under one of the other two candidates.
Dr. Douglas on the other hand (he’s a legit GP, making the insistence on the “Dr” moniker slightly less intolerable) merely shrugged the whole thing off as little more than hot air.

This is just: ‘I’m angry with Alex Douglas because he stated the obvious’. The PUP experiment as a state experiment is finished, it’s over, move on.

And as for the rest of us, lives were lived completely as normal – totally unaffected by this wholly inconsequential, yet fist-poundingly frustrating – development from the world of politics.
