Clive Palmer Won’t Pay His Fish & Chips Bill

We know there’s nothing better than a free lunch, but you do occasionally have to pay for food now and then, particularly if you’re a (self-professed) billionaire. The Taree-Wingham Race Club has an outstanding tab of $5300 for calamari and chips that remains open, and Clive Palmer’s Palmer United Party is not budgingNeither is former NRL star-turned failed PUP candidate Matt Adamson

Back in July of last year, the Palmer Party contracted the Race Club, informing them to prepare enough food for an expected crowd of 200. Their grand master plan was to charge people $30 a head to come see Clive endorse Adamson and talk about his core election policies, like how bringing back the long lunch is going to save the economy, presumably by sending pissed executives back to work at 3pm where they run out the clock by buying nicknacks from local online retailers. But on the day, only 70 people showed up, and free tickets had to be given away to achieve even this low number. Apparently paying $30 to eat fish and chips whilst being served a big ole’ cup of crazy wasn’t the most appealing prospect to the people of Taree. Who would’ve thought?
The whole saga has now dragged on for months with both Adamson and the PUP insisting the other is responsible for picking up the bill. Adamson firmly believes it’s Palmer’s responsibility to pick up any costs incurred through his short-lived political campaign, and though Palmer has yet to issue any official statement on the matter, we feel it safe to assume that he’s far too busy building dinosaurs to worry about petty, pointless, waste-of-time topics like paying for things that he’s bought.
One thing’s for certain: Neither Palmer or Adamson are getting a bonus dimmie thrown in with their next order.
