Cleo Sayonaras 44 Years With 1972 Cover Replica Ft. Jesinta Campbell

After 44 years in print, the final-ever issue of Cleo magazine hits stands on Monday.

As such a big part of the Aussie mag landscape for so many years (come on, who hasn’t read one? Sealed section, hellooooo), the final cover was always going to be memorable – and it’s now been revealed.
Starring Jesinta Campbell, the March cover is a recreation of the mag’s first-ever cover, from way back in 1972.

The sole cover line reads: “We farewell 44 years of sass, bachelors, sex and centerfolds”.
Jesinta says she got super-emotional when asked to shoot the last cover, ‘cos top honours etc.

On her personal Instagram, outgoing editor Lucy Cousins thanked her team for pulling off one last cover-zinger.

“Thank you to my amazing team and everybody involved. You guys are absolute bloody legends.”

Last week, Cleo eds past and present celebrated its long-running history with a ‘wake’ at Sydney‘s Woollahra Hotel

Lisa Wilkinson, Paula Joye, Mia Freedman, Sharri Markson and the legend herself – founding ed Ita Buttrose – were among those present to say adieu.
Publisher Bauer Media confirmed the closure of Cleo last month, blaming poor circulation figures.
