An Air Mauritius plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Melbourne Airport last night after a soft drink can with the word “bomb” taped to it was discovered and immediately deemed suspicious by crew.
Upon landing Victoria Police were called in to investigate the alleged explosive which, as mentioned above, was just a normal soft drink can and not a bomb as per the written instructions.
A spokesperson for the police said, “That’s what they found and it was of obvious concern to them and so they took that action and made the decision to return… If they thought for one second the passengers were at risk, they’ve done the right thing.”
One alternative possibility to explain the soft drink’s random label is that the culprit simply wrote the word in its colloquial sense like Lil Wayne says. This is what a real soft drink bomb looks like:
