Chris Columbus Wants To Direct A Post-Deathly Hallows Harry Potter Film

Chris Columbus didn’t have a thing to do with that horrendous end scene of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, where middle-aged Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny shove their magical spawn on the train to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry, but it seems like he’s kinda fascinated by it.
He directed the first two Harry Potter films and was a producer on the third, but after that, bailed out. But now, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Columbus has said he’d like to do a film that shows how the 19 years between our occult faves leaving Hogwarts, then sending their own kids there, was spent:
“I would love to go back and do another one. Not Fantastic Beasts as much, which I think is going to be amazing, but I would love to do another movie with those three characters — Harry, Hermione, and Ron. I’m just fascinated about what happened to them after the end of the last movie, because then they cut to 18 years ahead. There’s 18 years there of great Harry Potter stories.”

(It’s 19, but w/e.)

“I don’t have the courage to actually mention that to [J.K. Rowling] because I have such respect for her. She should do what she wants to do, but I really would love to know what’s in her head about those missing years.”
This sounds potentially awful, but let’s not lie to ourselves: we’d all totally watch it.
Also – sorry to go back to this, but – did anyone notice in THAT scene: Ron‘s paunchy, Harry has fatherly bags under his eyes, Ginny has a ‘mum’ haircut – but Hermione literally hasn’t aged a day? Does she have a spell for eternal youth? Why wouldn’t she share that with her mates? Don’t be so selfish Hermione, ugh.
