Coles Pulls Chorizo Sausages From Its Shelves Over E. Coli Contamination

Sausage fiends beware, Coles has pulled a vacuum packed chorizo product from its shelves after it was found to be contaminated with E. coli.

The 250g Hans Spanish Chorizo with a December 1 2017 expiration date has been recalled in both NSW and QLD.

“This recall is being undertaken to ensure the safety of our customers as part of our ongoing commitment to maintain the highest standards of safety and quality at all times. We apologise for any inconvenience,” Hans said in a statement.

“We are working with relevant authorities to ensure the ongoing safety of our consumers.”

They stress that the recall only applies to its chorizo and no other products. If you’ve got one of these sitting in your fridge, you can take it back to Coles for a full refund.

If you’ve, err, already eaten the bad sausage, the most common symptoms of E. coli infection include severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting. If this is you, maybe get to the doctor stat.
