The boyfriend of Celeste Manno, the young woman who was found dead in her Mernda home on Monday morning, has paid tribute to her on social media.
Manno, 23, was allegedly stabbed to death in her home by an intruder at about 4.10am on Monday.
A 35-year-old man was arrested and taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, Victoria Police said. It is understood the pair were known to each other.
Manno’s boyfriend, Chris Ridsdale, posted a picture of himself and Manno on social media on Wednesday.
“We took this picture on Saturday this week,” he wrote.
“We talked and joked about how this would be the first picture of us together on her social media and she was so excited to share it with everyone.
“I was told, very clearly, that this was to be my new profile picture.
“For those who know me and know how little I use Facebook or Instagram, you know this was something I didn’t really care much to do.
“Now it seems like the best thing I can do for her.
“To show everyone how much she meant to me and how beautiful she was.”
Manno’s alleged killer has not yet been charged.
Her brother, Alessandro, alleged to The Age that Manno had been stalked by a former colleague in the months before her death.
“He got fired and she wasn’t close to him at all but just to give him some support she walked him out the door, and ever since that day he has just been obsessed with her,” Alessandro said.
Alessandro claimed the man had messaged his sister on Instagram multiple times, causing her to block him.
But he “created about a million other accounts,” Alessandro said.
Manno’s family said she reported his behaviour to the police.
In a tribute shared to Facebook on Wednesday morning, Alessandro described his bond with his sister as “inseparable”.
“There was no person on this Earth that knew me the way you did and knew everything about me,” he wrote.
“You were my sister, best friend, and most importantly the most amazing beautiful person in my life.”
“I can’t believe you’re gone and I’m never gonna see you again. You were so perfect in every way and I just can’t believe this is real.”
