Cambridge Analytica CEO Secretly Filmed Admitting Shady Political Tactics

The chief executive of the big data firm accused of unethically pilfering information from 50 million Facebook accounts has been caught on camera suggesting his operation could send sex workers to the homes of political opponents to damage their reputations.

A Channel 4 investigation captured Alexander Nix, head of Trump– and Brexit-linked firm Cambridge Analytica, telling an undercover reporter that his company has a “history” of manufacturing circumstances with significant public relations repercussions.

“Send some girls around to the candidate’s house,” Nix suggested. “We have lots of history of things.”

Nix suggested that one way of creating dirt on an opponent would be to “bring some Ukrainian girls with us on holiday, you know. You know what I’m saying.”

The firm also suggested that filming a political opponent agreeing to a non-existent but nevertheless corrupt deal could be used as leverage.

Nix maintained the suggested scenarios were hypothetical, but had a basis in Cambridge Analytica’s previous dealings.

“Please don’t pay too much attention to what I’m saying, because I’m just giving you examples of what can be done, what has been done,” he said.

Responding to the footage, Cambridge Analytica released a statement saying “we entirely refute any allegation that Cambridge Analytica or any of its affiliates use entrapment, bribes or so-called ‘honey-traps’ for any purpose whatsoever,” adding “Cambridge Analytica does not use untrue material for any purpose.”

The footage comes after a bombshell exposé on the machinations of Cambridge Analytica, which was revealed to have compiled accurate psychological profiles on millions of Facebook users in order to direct ruthlessly effective political messaging and advertisements.
