Byron Bay Man Charged With Murder Over DJ’s Suspicious Christmas Day Death

A 24-year-old Byron Bay man has been charged with murder over the death of 28-year-old Chris Bradley, who died under suspicious circumstances on Christmas Day.

Detectives with Tweed Byron Local Area Command arrested the man this morning and detained him at Ballina Police Station, where he was refused bail. He’s slated to face Lismore Local Court tomorrow.

Bradley, a popular DJ who regularly performed at numerous venues across Byron Bay and the Gold Coast under the names B-Rad and Dad Bod, collapsed at a Byron Bay property on the evening of the 25th.

Emergency services were called, but were unable to resuscitate him. Bradley was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement, police allege Bradley was assaulted prior to his collapse.

Tributes have begun for the entertainer, with family and friends posting heartfelt messages to social media.

On Facebook, Bradley’s sister Maddie said “my heart’s so broken to hear this news today.

“To say the words I’ve lost my big brother, it’s gut wrenching. Who could do such a horrible thing to such an amazing man.”

Dale Stephen added “so saddened by the news of the sudden loss of such a kind, funny, talented and warm hearted gentleman.

“Byron and beyond will miss you terribly.”
