After what seems like an age of waking up every morning with Brooke Boney and raging late into the night with KLP, both of the gals are bidding adieu to Triple J at the end of the year.

For the past two years, Brooke has pulled the morning shift to bring us all the news and be a grounding presence to Ben and Liam, and pioneered her own traditions of beginning every news bulletin with “Yaama” – a greeting in the language of the Gamilaroi people, whose lands she grew up on in northern NSW.

I’m really going to miss waking up with all of you and my lovely mates Ben and Liam but I’m super excited to be working on some new stuff across other parts of the ABC! I have always been a triple j listener and (like many of you) feel like it formed a big part of who I am today, so it’s been a real honour.

Brooke will be staying in the ABC family, but working on some different projects outside of the big red drum. Filling the big responsibility of reading the news and wrangling the morning ratbags is Alice Matthews – who you could have heard on Hack and reading the news during the day.

On the other end of the day, KLP is leaving the decks of the coveted Triple J House Party shift on Saturday nights, passing over the AUX cord to the next vibe curator after five huge years of providing the tunes for your pre-party sesh.

Five years flies when you’re having a ball partying with Australia every Saturday night! I grew up listening to triple j and never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would one day be the host of a show that is full of so much music and good energy.

While I love being on the radio, writing and performing music of my own has always been my number one love, and I’ve decided to step back so I have more time to focus on that. I’ve been working away on some exciting releases that I can’t wait to share with you in 2019!

Stepping back from the weekend rager to focus more on her own music – and also probably to take some well-earned rest during her pregnancy – KLP’s assured us all that she’s not going far and will be sharing her next phase in the new year.

There’s no news just yet on who’s jumping behind the decks for the next era of the Triple J House Party, but we’ll keep you updated on that one.
