Britney Spears‘ dad Jamie Spears has asked the courts to launch an investigation into the claims she made of abuse and mistreatment while under her conservatorship.
As per the ABC, Jamie’s lawyers filed a request to the courts to investigate her claims, including the ones she made about medical decisions being made for her.
In the documents filed to Los Angeles Superior Court, Jamie said he was “greatly saddened to hear of his daughter’s difficulties and suffering” and believes that an investigation must be made into these claims against those who are taking care of her personal affairs.
Jamie Spears is currently a co-conservator of Britney’s finances alongside Bessemer Trust, and until September 2019 was also in charge of her personal matters. Following his removal, care manager Jodi Montgomery stepped in as a temporary conservator of Britney’s personal care.
In February, Jamie pushed to be in total control of her finances and investments, which was denied.
Last week, Britney gave a lengthy, detailed speech to a judge about her conservatorship – which has been in place since 2008 – alleging that she was banned from having an IUD contraceptive removed despite wanting more children, and was forced to take lithium against her will.
Britney did not specify exactly when these alleged incidents occurred, and whether her father was in charge of her personal affairs at the time.
She also spoke about her father in the impassioned speech, calling him “ignorant”, claiming he threatened her, and alleging that he enjoyed the control he had over her life and finances.
“He loved the control to hurt his own daughter 100,000%,” she said.
“He loved it.”
Jamie’s lawyers also confirmed in the filing that he didn’t hear these concerns or address them with her directly, because he has been “cut off from communicating with her”, but has requested a hearing to investigate whether Ms. Montgomery should continue to be Britney’s personal affairs conservator.
