Bret Easton Ellis Coming To Australia

In pant-wetting news for Australian literary types, Bret Easton Ellis, the scribe responsible for modern literature’s most visceral, nihilistic and misogynistic works (American Psycho, Less Than Zero, The Rules Of Attraction) will visit Australia this August to promote his new book Imperial Bedrooms.

The announcement was tweeted yesterday by Ellis’ publisher Pan Macmillan Australia who promised to “tweet details as they come in”. Melbourne’s Wheeler Centre, a “centre dedicated to the discussion and practice of writing and ideas”, then offered more vague details on Ellis’ Australian jaunt today: “American novelist Bret Easton Ellis will discuss his new novel Imperial Bedrooms and his classic backlist including American Psycho, Less Than Zero and Lunar Park. The event will be held in Melbourne’s CBD at a venue to be confirmed, in the week beginning 9th August.

While we await further details, may I suggest following the Twitter account of Ellis’ most irredeemable creation – Mr. Patrick Bateman. Yeah we know, we know, the whole fictional character Twitter thing can lean toward the masturbatory, but with lines like “Jesus Christ. Sluts will do anything for a line sometimes. I’d share but this one in particular isn’t the least bit fuckable” Bateman’s timeline is delightfully inappropriate and most importantly, note fuckin’ perfect.
