Stars: they’re just like us! In that apparently their thirst will motivate them to do insane things like bid $152,000 (US$120,000) just to spend an evening watching Game of Thrones with one of its sexy stars.
Okay, maybe it’s not so crazy, considering that the bid took place at Sean Penn‘s annual charity auction for Haiti, and the item up for auction was a night in front of the telly with Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington, but damn if it’s not fun to imagine Brad Pitt desperately trying to score just a moment with Clarke to prove how much of a perfect match they’d be.
Variety reports that while the bidding started at $25,000 (US$20,000), Pitt rapidly raised the stakes, bidding $101,000 (US$80,000) and then $114,ooo ($US90,000) for the chance to watch an episode of ‘GoT‘ with Daenerys Targaryen herself. Then, when Kit Harington came back from the toilet and offered to join in the popcorn party prize, Pitt upped the stakes to his final bid of $152,000 ($US120,000).
Sucked in to him though, ‘cos although he reportedly led the bidding at the Milk Studios gala for some time, he was eventually outbid by another guest to the tune of US$160,000.
That’s a pretty big win for the J/P HRO & Disaster Relief Organisations, who were the beneficiaries of the auction, and who will put the millions raised at the auction towards the relief effort in Haiti.
It sounds like a real swanky night, with Lena Dunham, Jason Segel, Patricia Arquette, Arnold Schwarznegger and Leonardo DiCaprio all attending. Clarke also got in on the auction action, making off with a $114,000 (US$90,000) Josh Smith painting – and, we hope, Brad Pitt’s phone number.
