Most of the time weather is pretty normal. Sunshine. Rain. Wind. Clouds and stuff. The classics. Sometimes, however, it’s not normal. Sometimes conditions combines so that Sydney‘s coast gets shrouded in a big, thick midday fog.

Giving off visuals very strongly reminiscent of The Mist, a big ol’ bank rolled over Bondi and Coogee this morning, before dissipating more broadly over the coast:

As this handy gif from Weatherzone shows, the mist was happily making its way up the coast offshore before it was so rudely intercepted by an easterly and deposited on the coast:

According to Weatherzone, the temperature humidity allowed for the perfect conditions for the fog to form and to remain in place. They noted that while sea fog is not rare, it is somewhat unusual at this time of year.
No word yet on whether the fog is full of terrifying extradimensional monsters, we’ll keep you posted if that’s the case.
