The awkwardness of Opposition Leader Bill Shorten is quickly becoming the most defining part of his Labor leadership, but with one painful TV segment and subsequent tweet he’s hit a political iceberg. He’s tossed away his credibility. Will he romain Leader of the Labor party? He’s getting shredded on Twitter, and all cos of this:
That vine comes from a segment aired this morning in which Shorten follows a woman around a Queanbeyan Woolies and asks her about the contents of her trolley – or, as Sky News‘ Paul Murray put it, attempting to fire up debate about the GST by scaring a normal human being.
The rest of the segment plays out with Bill apparently choosing their groceries on the basis that they were placed neither too high nor too low on the shelf, and filling up the time with some riveting chat.
The whole thing took a turn for the cringeworthy when Shorten heard about the lettuce joke and ran with it.
Cos you asked @workmanalice – my favourite lettuce is one that doesn’t have a 15 per cent GST on it. pic.twitter.com/2DChKdws0D

Twitter right now is just one giant lettuce pun pissing contest. But at least we know one thing for sure:
*wipes sweat off forehead, bites into cos heart*
