Convicted Sexual Abuser Bill Cosby Released Early From Prison On A Fucking Technicality

Disgraced actor Bill Cosby has been released from prison and is now walking freely after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his sexual assault conviction.

Cosby was released from a state prison in Shippack, Pennsylvania, just before 2:30pm on Wednesday after the court discovered that a previous prosecutor had struck a deal to not charge the actor in the case.

ABC reports that he promptly returned to his mansion in Elkins Park in Philadelphia, where he was greeted by his supporters as well as the media, although he did not make a statement.

Bill Cosby was found guilty of sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in his home in 2004 after providing her with unidentified pills. However, the Pennsylvania court’s majority found that a state prosecutor, Bruce Castor, had previously made a deal with Cosby’s lawyers in 2005 to not infer criminal charges.

Because of this, Bill Cosby was forced to testify as part of a civil lawsuit that the defendant, Andrea Constand, brought against him. His deposition was unsealed by a judge in 2015 and ultimately allowed a new district attorney, Kevin Steele, to charge Cosby later that year.

The court has found that that prosecution has meant that Castor’s earlier deal with Cosby had been reneged on, which is why he was freed.

“In light of these circumstances, the subsequent decision by successor DAs to prosecute Cosby violated Cosby’s due process rights,” Justice David Wecht wrote.

“There is only one remedy that can completely restore Cosby to the status quo ante. He must be discharged, and any future prosecution on these particular charges must be barred.”

As Bill Cosby was released, his lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, said he should never have been charged.

“District attorneys can’t change it up simply because of their political motivation,” she said, adding that Cosby remains in excellent health, apart from being legally blind.

In a statement, Steele, the DA who charged Cosby, said he went free “on a procedural issue that is irrelevant to the facts of the crime”.

He went on to applaud Ms Constand for coming forward: “My hope is that this decision will not dampen the reporting of sexual assaults by victims.”

60 women have accused Cosby of rape, drug facilitated sexual assault, sexual battery, or other sexual misconduct.
