SA’s Big Bird Bandits Had Their Day In Court & The Footage Of Their Exit Is Elite Level Stuff

big bird bandits court adelaide

Two blokes who stole a giant Big Bird costume from a circus in Adelaide have faced court for their fowl behaviour, charged with unlawfully being on premises and the theft of a costume of the Sesame Street character worth $160,000. And thought we don’t yet know what was said inside on Wednesday afternoon, their exit from the Adelaide Magistrates Court was truly elite.

As Tasman Binder and Cody Milne stepped out of the court doors, they were rushed by journalists and camera crews, all asking the bog-standard questions – “Do you regret it?” “Do you have anything to say?” “Why did you do it?”

The pair – who were in matching white turtleneck skivvies, sesh sunnies, and very nice jackets that could have either been from an op shop or a high end vintage store – remained silent as the press pack swarmed them, beelining for their ride out of there.

If you listen closely, you can fully hear one journalist (or maybe a friend planted in as a fake journo) ask them the important questions, like “Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street?” and “who’s your favourite Sesame Street character?”

Incredible stuff.

Even right down to the driver asking the media to “step away from the limo” which is most definitely a South Aus shit-box, and then struggling to get the car into gear as the two men start to lung back a ciggie, it’s all simply gorgeous viewing. Their top tier exit left the press pack cackling as they tried to maintain some level of court reporting professionalism.

Someone get Vin Diesel on the phone, I think we’ve found a new driver for the Fast & The Furious universe, or at least a very comical scene idea for Fast 10.

Following their fronting to court, ABC reports that Binder and Milne had their bail conditions amended to remove their curfew and a ban to stop them from talking or seeing each other. They are, however, still banned from attending the circus.

The Big Bird bandits are due to appear in court again in November.
