Belgium Put On Terror Lockdown, People Respond By Tweeting Cat Pictures

In the wake of the shocking terrorist attacks across Paris, authorities in Belgium have been conducting sweeping raids aimed at eradicating a terrorist network that exists within the politically troubled country – particularly in the capital of Brussels – that has seen 16 suspects arrested across 19 raids conducted late on Sunday night.

Although successful, the raids have still yet to uncover one of the suspected attackers, Salah Abdelslam, who remains at large for the time being.
As a result, authorities have extended their mandated lockdown of Brussels into a third day, forcing citizens to remain cooped up in their homes, with strict instructions from police to not Tweet or post photos of raid operations online, for fear of tipping off the network as to police movements.
So when you’re stuck inside with nothing to do, and given the official order to not inadvertently aid the terror threat, what do you do?
You help calm everyone the hell down – whilst simultaneously throwing a middle finger squarely at the murdering pricks – by bombarding the internet with cat pictures. That’s what you bloody well do.
Belgians across the country have been flooding the Twitter hashtag #BrusselsLockdown with pictures of adorable kittehs. Because you can try and take our freedoms and our peaceful way of life away from us. But you will never take our FLOOF.

Bless u, u beautiful country. Peace, love, and furry pals forever. x
