Barnaby Joyce Is Heavily Tipped To Finally Bloody Resign This Afternoon

UPDATE: He’s done it.

Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce is expected to announce his resignation as leader of the Nationals this afternoon, after backbenchers began publicly airing their misgivings about his continual leadership.

Joyce will hold a press conference at 2pm at his base in Armidale, after a fortnight of intense speculation regarding his leadership.

Joyce has faced scrutiny over his affair with former media advisor Vikki Campion, who whom he is expecting a child, and questions over his use of ministerial entitlements at the time of the affair.

Backbencher MP Andrew Broad yesterday called for Joyce to stand down, sparking talk of an explosive leadership challenge on Monday. However, Joyce has continually asserted his desire to stay on as the party leader and the nation’s deputy PM.

Keep your eyes peeled for this one.
