Aziz Ansari Weighed In On Feminism In Simple Terms And It’s Kinda Great

Feminism is one of those long-simmering topics that’s kind of been brought up to the boil a little in more recent years. And not for the reasons that it should be. The battle for gender equality still rages ferociously hard, but negative stigma attached to the label – for whatever mystifying reason – lingers on. Worse still, opposition to the concept has become even more vile with the advent of social media – be it from idiots without a clue, feminists telling other feminists their feminism isn’t feminist enough, or the bottom-of-the-barrel scum that is the horrifically harmful “Men’s Rights” movement, which we shall mention here but once and never speak of again.

Realistically, it’s not a difficult concept to grasp – Equal rights, opportunities and safe environments for all, and the disownership of the idea that sex is a commodity either earned or owed. Or, in even simpler terms: No one owes you shit, so don’t be a dick.
That might be an overly glib, Fisher-Price style interpretation of things, but sometimes it’s important to remember the basics.
Aziz Ansari, for example, had a go at doing just that on a recent visit to Letterman, and nailed some pretty good points – particularly surrounding people’s reluctance to embrace the word itself.

Any valid analogy on the subject of feminism that includes reference to Beyoncé is a good one as far as we’re concerned.
You get it, Aziz. You. Get. It.
