AWW YISS: SA Just Passed A Bill To Formally Recognise Same-Sex Marriages

After Premier Jay Weatherill and both sides of the South Australian parliament apologised to the LGBTQI community for previous injustices and other horrid junk, the promised ‘Relationships Register Bill’ has successfully passed State Parliament.

CAN I GET A HELL YEAH?
The bill allows all couples – no matter what shape – to be registered under the eyes of the state government, so that they can be recognised. This means that same-sex marriages that are recognised outside of Australia will be recognised in South Australia.
The bill comes after the death of David Bulmer-Rizzi in SA earlier this year, and the discrimination his husband Marco faced when it was realised that he could not be listed as his spouse on the death certificate.

The also makes amends to the existing Equal Opportunity Act, adding in that people cannot be discriminated against because of their past or present intersex status.
If that’s not enough fuckin’ grouse news, in the last HOUR the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration (Gender Identity) Amendment Bill 2016 passed the Upper House, which means that it’ll be a hell of a lot simpler to get a new birth certificate to recognise a change of sex or gender.
My god 2016, you’re really trying to close this one out with some Bloody Good News, aren’t ya.
