Aussie Students Sent Home From School Due To The Coronavirus Are Taking The Piss On TikTok

More and more schools around Australia are closing as a precaution to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. For the Aussie students stuck at home this week, this means only one thing: it’s corona time.

The phrase has become the unofficial theme song of the coronavirus on TikTok, and never has it been more appropriate than when your school suddenly shuts down because of the disease.

High school students channeled all their pent up energy into memeing the shit out of the situation. Is the coronavirus good now? No, but at least the content is.

Many of the TikToks showed the kerfuffle around the school closures. Students were instructed to go home en masse, while news crews filmed outside the playground.

Others riffed off the just how susceptible schools are to virus outbreaks. At one school, a single Year 7 student was enough to force the whole school to close, which is standard medical advice.

Others joked about how some students were glad to be home, with one anthropomorphic COVID-19 viron saying, “it’s funny how bitches turned into my fans.”

Three high schools in Sydney have suspended classes in recent days, while two in Melbourne also have. One school in Perth has also warned parents that it may suspend classes.

Plenty more TikToks were uploaded by students of the five high schools showing skits and viral dances. It’s a damn good way to kill boredom, as if we didn’t know that already.

One was captioned “corona isolation vibes”, while another said “when your school closes ’cause of the coronavirus, therefore you make TikToks.” One TikTok – a dace filmed in the playground – had the caption: “hi this was filmed before we found out our school had coronavirus.”

We haven’t seen any TikToks made by the teachers yet, but we’re not holding our breath.
