An Aussie Instagram something-or-other is in some truly deep shit after failing to show at her court hearing, after police pulled her over in Bondi Junction last December and caught her with a suss as fuck wad of cash and some “white powder”.

Kate Szepanowski is a 24-year-old with a 45K Instagram following.

According to SMH, December 8 last year, Kate was pulled over by the cops at 1.20am, after her car was spotted driving slowly and erratically along Syd Einfeld Drive.

A police statement tendered before court said:

“Police could see that the accused was fiddling around near the centre console and became suspicious she was attempting to conceal something.”

The statement says that Kate told them her car was making weird noises, and that she’d been out with a friend for dinner that night. But when she got her bag to get her ID out, police said they saw a wad of cash and a large, clear resealable bag and became suspicious that she was dealing drugs. They also saw two phones – one plugged into the charging portal and one under the seat, which she claimed wasn’t hers.

Police claim that Kate Szepanowski “told multiple stories before admitting that she had been with her sugar daddy”. She was breath-tested and drug tested, with both coming back negative. She said she had evidence she was meeting up with her sugar daddy on her mobile, but according to the statement was repeatedly unable to unlock her phone.

Police then searched her car, retrieving $2500 in cash which she said was from said sugar daddy. They also checked the plastic bag, which they said contained traces of white powder they believed to be cocaine, and found two Xanax tablets but no prescription. She was also strip-searched in the back of the police vehicle, but nothing was found. Police did take the cash, saying they believed it was earned through drug dealing.

Magistrate Daniel Covington convicted Kate Szepanowski of possessing a prohibited drug for the Xanax, and for possessing unlawfully obtained goods, after she failed to show in Local Court. She’s been fined a combined $350.
