Calling all under-40s girls, gays and theys in NSW, I have some pretty good news for you. Very, very soon, anyone and everyone under 40 will be able to snag an AstraZeneca jab at your local pharmacy or health clinic! Talk about ease of access. My arm is ready.
Yep, it’s true, under-40s have been granted the ability to go out there and get the good poke without needing to have an appointment with their GP about it beforehand.
As of Friday, the NSW government will allow anyone seeking the jab to go forth and get it at most NSW Health Clinics and around 450 pharmacies, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
This change arrives as NSW still records that only 2% of people under 40 have actually received their first jab. As we all know by now, getting vaccinated is our key to getting out of all of this mess, so hopefully alongside ease of access comes more people getting the jab.
The Herald also reports that NSW will be receiving a four-week extension on lockdown after the state recorded 172 new cases on Tuesday, which is the highest amount that we’ve seen during this current lockdown.
A total of 60 of those people were infectious in the community, which is some shocking numbers.
The NSW Government has also agreed to finally implement a singles bubble to battle the mental health effects of an extended lockdown. This is some great news for most of us as we get to finally see our friends and cry alongside them instead of crying alone.
There is also going to be rapid testing of year 12 students so they can return to school for their HSC, though kids in other years are expected to continue attending school from home.
All adult Aussies (yep, even if those of us under 40) are currently able to get the safe and effective AstraZeneca vaccine through a GP. Talk to a doctor to see if it’s right for you.
