Ashley Graham Fans Are Livid Maxim Retouched The Plus-Sized Model’s Cover

Photoshop is one of those things where if you don’t notice it, it’s been done well. If comments on plus-size model Ashley Graham’s Maxim cover are anything to go by, the touch-up hasn’t been done well – at all. And that’s without even discussing if it should have been ‘shopped in the first place.

After showing off her debut appearance on the lad mag’s cover – which is also the first time the publication has cast a plus-sized model for the role – fans wasted no time in voicing their concerns over the image’s treatment by photographer Gilles Bensimon.

Seeing as her appearance on the mag’s cover marks a considerable deviation from the conventional model type, supporters were concerned the image had been altered regardless to shoehorn her into a more conventionally accepted category:
FWIW, Bensimon has come out in defence of the shot. On Instagram, he told one skeptic the shot practically looks the way it entered the lens, thank you very much:
This brouhaha comes after Graham also became the first plus-sized model to grace the cover of the perennially-drool-inspiring Sports Illustrated earlier this year.
As if from the eternal realms of model justice, at least one other heavy hitter in the industry has come out in defense of Graham, Bensimon and the shot in question:
Surely that settles it. Right? Right?
