Ash Williams Of I’m A Celeb Charged With Recording Intimate Image Of Woman Without Consent

Comedian Ash Williams, who appears on the current season of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here, says he will fight a charge that he recorded an intimate image of a woman without her consent while engaged in phone sex on FaceTime.

Per reports in the Sunday Telegraph, police will allege that Ash Williams took screenshots of a woman without her knowledge. The unnamed woman became aware of this when he sent images to her, and she reported the incident to police in November.

NSW Police say that, following investigations, a 38-year-old man was charged with intentionally recording intimate images without consent. He is due to appear in Newtown Local Court on February 1, and faces up to three years behind bars.

Ash Williams has said that he was “completely blindsided” by the allegations against him, and has indicated that he will defend himself. He said that he is distressed about the allegation and will not address it further at this time, telling the Sunday Telegraph:

“I’m really upset by the allegation and I’m distressed about the impact it’s had on members of my family, particularly my mum. The allegation has left me feeling shocked and confused. I don’t propose to make any further comment and look forward to resolving the matter in court.”

This year’s I’m A Celebrity was prerecorded thanks to coronavirus travel restrictions, so it remains to be seen whether and how 10 will edit around Williams in episodes to come.
