A new Vanity Fair report claims Armie Hammer has checked himself into an in-patient facility for drug, alcohol, and sex issues, according to three separate sources who spoke to the publication.
Apparently Armie Hammer was spotted arriving at the Grand Cayman airport with his estranged wife, Elizabeth Chambers, and their two young children.
“Elizabeth and kids dropp[ed] him off and walk[ed] in as far as allowed,” wrote the person. “A lot of hugs and seemed emotional.”
An insider told the publication that Armie reached out to his ex a few weeks back and told her that he “was ready to seek treatment.” He’s now based at a Florida facility, where he will remain “to get healthy.”
“Everyone looks at Armie thinking that he’s had some sort of privileged life—and that must mean there were no problems in his youth and everything was peachy keen,” a friend of Armie Hammer said.
“But that’s not necessarily the way things go. Just because you come from an upbringing where financial resources are plentiful doesn’t mean life isn’t without problems.”
A family friend of the Hammer’s said that Armie “is committed to getting healthy and having custody of his kids.” The close friend added, “This is a clear sign that he is taking back control [of] his life and knows that this [is] a step towards his overall well being.”
One of the sources claimed that Armie Hammer was “bothered” by the fact that he wasn’t allowed to spend time with his kids without supervision amid the allegations.
The only public statement the actor has made referencing the allegations came in January, when he explained why he was stepping away from the Jennifer Lopez movie, Shotgun Wedding:
“I’m not responding to these bullshit claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic.”
The Call Me By Your Name actor became a viral topic of conversation online after a series of graphic DMs allegedly between him and several women leaked on social media.
