Welp, Andrew Broad Used Taxpayer Dollars On His Alleged ‘Sugar Daddy’ Trip

Disgraced Nationals MP Andrew Broad is reportedly willing to repay the taxpayer funds he used on connecting flights before his ill-fated September trip to Hong Kong, where he allegedly dated a woman he met on a website facilitating sugar baby-style relationships.

Citing sources within the Coalition, The Sydney Morning Herald reports the married MP is prepared to repay the cost of return flights between his home base in Mildura and Melbourne, where he departed for Hong Kong.

Broad has confirmed to The New Daily that he did travel to Hong Kong primarily for electoral business – he attended a fruit export trade show, which was attended by growers from the Mallee region – but clarified that he paid for the international portion of the journey and accomodation out of his own pocket.

“The travel was arranged and subject to all normal approval processes prior to becoming a minister and it related to electorate matters,” Broad told New Daily.

His reported offer comes amid growing turmoil from the scandal.

Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack was forced to clarify that he learned of the matter roughly six weeks ago, despite initially saying he was aware a “couple” of weeks back.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Scott Morrison was reportedly unaware of the issue until the claims by a woman named Amy were first reported by New Idea.

It has been revealed that Broad contacted the Australian Federal Police about the matter on November 8, and later told New Idea “the person making the allegation may have engaged in criminal activity.”

However, the AFP yesterday declared it had found no evidence of a crime being committed under Australian law.
