An Escapee French Bulldog Pup Was Found More Than 30KM Away From Home

So here’s a reminder to make sure your backyard is dog proof – and specifically, your dog proof.

A cute lil’ French Bulldog puppy managed to escape her backyard, catch a train in Salisbury, Brisbane, and end up in Beenleigh, some 30km away.

Bonnie, an 18-month-old pup, apparently dug her way out of the backyard and wandered down to the train station, according to the Sunday Mail.

A Queensland Rail train guard spotted Bonnie wandering around on the platform by herself, and brought her into the guard’s section for safekeeping.

“As soon as we pulled up at the station, I spotted a little French Bulldog running around the station,” said Chloe Johnson, who returned the pup to her owner. “I didn’t want to leave her at the station by herself, so I put her on the spare seat beside me where she sat for the 30km ride to Beenleigh station.”

Look, I can think of worse ways to deal with a train ride than having a little furry buddy on your lap. Johnson got off the train in Beeleigh and found a vet to help her track down Bonnie’s owner, who was starting to fear the worst.

The two were reunited, and it was probably a good one with lots of tail wagging.

“After an hour of so of looking around the neighbourhood, I started to get really worried,” said owner Cheryl Faccio. “I’m so thankful Chloe was able to take her in and look after her.”

Honestly, tell me this isn’t the plot of a Tropfest film called Dog Day Afternoon or something. You know – lots of shots of the pup looking happily out of the train window, tongue sticking out, probably to a folk song by a washed up band that exclusively makes songs for app commercials now. You get the picture.
