An MP Made A How-To Vid For The Postal Vote, In Case The Mail Confuses You

We’re not here to hang shit on any Federal politician willing to publicly advocate for a Yes vote in the upcoming marriage equality postal survey – the campaign quite literally needs as much help and support as it can physically muster (not that it’s on its last legs or anything, it’s just a case of too much is never enough). But even still this rates as one of the more baffling takes yet.

Federal member for Fenner Andrew Leigh has posted a bizarre video that uh… kind of suggests people aged 27 and under have no idea how the mail system works.

Leigh, the Labor member for northern outer Canberra, posted a ‘How To‘ video on Twitter instructing pesky millennials on how to use those mysterious red metal boxes on the street that no one clearly has any idea about.

That he’s picked 1990 as the year after which knowledge of how the mail system works falls away is laughable. Pay phones, sure. Dial-up internet, maybe. But snail mail? My man is up here acting like Etsy and ASOS returns don’t exist. Ahh yes. It is me, the clueless 26-year-old who has lived his life thus far resting coffee the public drink holders, unaware that their actual use is for some sort of arcane message carrying service. Inform the villagers!

‘Course old mate is more than likely having a laugh. But I wouldn’t be taking this gear to a RAW Comedy heat with any sort of heightened hope.

Save the gags for the open mic night, m8. This is a bit important.
