Amy Schumer Might’ve Cancelled Her Tour, But A Netflix Special Is Coming

As I warm up these hands of mine, sooty and worn rough from a life spent toiling away deep in the content minds, I hear naught but the faint cries “she’s not funny” echoing down from the surface; howling cackles of commenters eager to assert that their opinion on an objective thing is gospel and superior to all others, wilfully ignoring the fact that there’s a difference between an objectively bad thing and something that simply doesn’t appeal to your tastes as an individual. Or the other howls, bitter and jagged from deeper underground, from those who spend hours hooting about “she steals jokes,” even though anyone who’s ever written a joke can tell you two people independently coming up with vaguely similar riffs on common joke concepts is absolutely possible.

Bit I digress.
She might have cancelled her entire Australian and NZ tour in December at the absolute last minute, but those of you hanging out for more Amy Schumer stand up will not have to wait very long.
The insanely popular comic has officially inked a deal to bring her new stand-up special to comedy champion and streaming megalith Netflix, and not only is it already filmed, but it’ll be on screens in March.
The deal brings the premiere of the 35-year-old’s third major stand-up special to a streaming service for the first time, and follows on from stints at both Comedy Central for 2012’s breakthrough ‘Mostly Sex Stuff,’ and HBO for 2015’s ‘Live at the Apollo.’
The special was filmed on November 5 of last year at the Bellco Theatre in Denver, Colorado; a stop that was part of Schumer’s sprawling 2016 world tour that was originally scheduled to hit Australian shores in December until a last minute health issue forced its cancellation.
Schumer, of the Netflix deal, somewhat tongue-in-cheek stated that she is “very happy to be a part of the Netflix family for this special. Maybe now they will look at my ‘Stranger Things‘ audition tape to play the Demogorgon for Season 2.
The new stand up special is scheduled to drop on Netflix come March 7th.
