Amber Tamblyn Claims James Woods Tried To Pick Her Up When She Was 16

Amber Tamblyn has accused James Woods of attempting to pick her up when she was just 16 years old.

The now-34-year-old Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants actor was responding to a Twitter spat between Woods (Justice League, Family Guy) and actor Armie Hammer, over a homophobic tweet sent out by the former.

Basically, Hammer stars in the upcoming gay love film Call Me by Your Name, an adaptation of André Aciman‘s acclaimed novel that charmed the pants off critics when it opened at Sundance.

He plays a 24-year-old dashing American, who becomes the object of infatuation for the 17-year-old Elio (Timothée Chalamet).

Woods retweeted criticism of the character’s ages, adding the hashtag #NAMBLA. That stands for the pedophilia-advocacy group North American Man/Boy Love Association, and is an obvious equation of gay male relationships with pedophilia, an incredibly harmful association that has dogged the queer community for decades.

Hammer responded by pointing out the hypocrisy of calling out one age gap when Woods himself is no stranger to them.

FWIW, Woods was 66 when he dated 20-year-old Kristen Bauguess, after he broke up with his 26-year-old girlfriend Ashley Madison.

Tamblyn then jumped in to this to share the story of the time Woods tried to pick her up as a 16 year old, and when she informed him of her age, was told, “even better”.

Christ.

Woods denies the story took place, of course, but the story’s out there.

Shortly afterwards, Hammer sent out a since-deleted tweet with a screenshot proving Woods had blocked him, asking Tamblyn if the same thing had happened to her, too.

“Not yet!” she replied. “But now that the attempted grabbed pussy is out of the bag I’d say he’ll block me any minute now.”

All of this aside, go and watch the Call Me by Your Name trailer however many times is appropriate (I’d say 50) and find yourself utterly infatuated by Armie Hammer and his impossibly sexual voice.
