Alex Perry Tells Pauline Hanson Where To Shove Her BS Autism Comments

Alex Perry is, by his own admission, not a super political guy. And fair enough – the bloke makes (beautiful) dresses for a living; he shouldn’t be expected to have an opinion on every ill-informed bit of dross that our nation’s elected leaders heave up onto the parliamentary carpet.
However, Pauline Hanson‘s latest fuckery has broken even Perry’s political silence.
In a searing Instagram diatribe, the seasoned designer absolutely laid in to Hanson for her astonishingly ignorant comments on children with autism

I NEVER MAKE POLITICAL COMMENTS… THIS IS MY EXCEPTION… IN THE FACE OF THE IGNORANT, OFFENSIVE AND SHAMEFUL COMMENTS AGAINST CHILDREN WITH AUTISM I FEEL COMPELLED TO. I’VE BEEN AN AMBASSADOR FOR AEIOU @aeioufoundation FOR 10 YEARS (ONE OF MY PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENTS) OUR GOAL AS AN INTERVENTION PROGRAM IS TO TEACH AND NURTURE THESE AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN AND HELP THEM INTEGRATE INTO REGULAR SHOOLS AND LIVE LIVES LIKE ANY CHILD. THE SUGGESTION THAT THEY SHOULD BE SEGREGATED FLIES IN THE FACE OF EVERYTHING THAT I BELIEVE IN. IS PAULINE HANSON AWARE THAT AUTISTIC CHILDREN ALREADY LIVE IN DARKNESS AND SOLITUDE? OUR HUMAN RESPONSIBILITY IS TO ILLUMINATE THESE CHILDREN’S LIVES, INCLUDE THEM, NOT SEGREGATE THEM. ?? #aeioufoundation

Perry has been an ambassador for not-for-profit autism organisation the AEIOU Foundation since 2007. In a promo video for the foundation, he talks about what a difference early intervention can make in the lives of children with autism – early intervention in the form of supporting kids so they can experience everything school life has to offer, not yanking them out of schooling to languish.
You tell her, Alex.
