Sydney woke up to extraordinarily poor air quality this morning, with one pollution watchdog saying conditions were the ninth worst of any city worldwide.

Thanks to smoke blowing in from bushfires ravaging other corners of the state, The NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment this morning said much of Sydney is experiencing another day of “Hazardous” air quality.
Nearly every suburb in Sydney’s east, southwest, and northwest is facing that rating, owing to the level of microscopic particles carried in the air.
Residents have been advised to avoid strenuous activity outside while the smoke hangs around. Folks who use an inhaler should make sure they have it handy, too.
The Bureau Of Meteorology advises the city is expected to face a “Poor” air quality rating for much of the day.
AirVisual, which tracks airborne particulates across the globe, this morning ranked Sydney below metropolises like Jakarta and the Chinese manufacturing hub Shenzhen.
