Ahmed, Famous Teenage Producer Of Clocks, Just Got A Scholarship In Qatar

Today, in ‘Excellent, Feel-Good News’: Ahmed Mohamed, the American Muslim teenager who was vilified for bringing a homemade clock to school, has been offered a top-level scholarship.

Ahmed experienced truly horrendous racial and bigoted attacks after he was interrogated and arrested for ‘having a homemade bomb’ at his school in Texas. Turns out the poor kid was just a young robotics enthusiast, and had made fully-functioning clock.
“They told me ‘No, you can’t call your parents,’” he said. “‘You’re in the middle of an interrogation at the moment.’ They asked me a couple of times, ‘Is it a bomb?’ and I answered a couple of times, ‘It’s a clock.’”

“I felt like I was a criminal. I felt like I was a terrorist. I felt like all the names I was called.”
Shortly after, due to the fact that Ahmed was very clearly and with no doubt whatsoever a victim a religious profiling, the Internet rallied behind him with the hashtag #IStandWithAhmed. Trump-lovin’ knuckleheads, such as Sarah PalinRichard Dawkins, and Ted Cruz were all v. unchill about this, claiming that it’s their god-given right to bear arms/be racist/whatever the fuck else they’re always rattling on about like a broken record.
But all’s well that ends well for this little legend. Ahmed got to meet President Obama, Mark Zuckerberg invited him to meet him at Facebook HQ, and now, he’s won and accepted a truly dopeass scholarship from the Qatar Foundation of Education, Science and Community Development
And he seems absolutely stoked:

“Qatar was a cool place to visit. I loved the city of Doha because it’s so modern. I saw so many amazing schools there, many of them campuses of famous American universities. The teachers were great. I think I will learn a lot and have fun, too,” he said in a statement.

YOU GO, AHMED, YOU GO.
