Adoption Equality Bill Finally Passed In VIC Parliament, Will Soon Be Law

VIC Premier Daniel Andrews has announced that today, the Victorian Parliament has finally passed legislation for adoption equality, meaning that same-sex couples can adopt with the same rights as heterosexual couples.
The Premier tweeted this earlier today:

The bill was passed unopposed, with the Opposition given a free vote.
It should be mentioned that Labor did accept an amended version of the Adoption Amendment Bill, which gives religious groups the right to refuse adoption to gay couples – so ‘equality’ still has certain parameters.
But, a step in the right direction is exactly that.
