Adelaide Zoo Closes After Thieves Blow Up Gift Shop ATM In Very Weird Heist

Nothing like an ATM explosion to ruin a lovely day at the zoo.

Adelaide Zoo has been forced to close indefinitely after someone attempted a daring heist of the ATM in the gift shop, detonating it with what police describe as “a modified and volatile substance” used for industrial applications.
But let’s pause for a moment here. You’re planning a daring ATM heist. Check. You’ve got some kind of explosive liquid. Also check. But your target is… the ATM in the gift shop at Adelaide Zoo. This is not Ocean’s Eleven.
The zoo is closing indefinitely after the explosion for safety reasons. “It’s incredibly disappointing that someone would not only conduct a crime such as this, but also on a conservation charity,” Adelaide Zoo’s Russell Schrale said.
Nobody was injured, and it is expected that the explosion would have a ‘minimal’ impact on the animals due to the presence of a thick concrete barrier.
The culprits got away empty handed. Let that be a lesson to those who would seek to perform a daring heist on an ATM in a zoo.
