Activists Planning To Fuck Shit Up At John Howard Anniversary Dinner

Activists are gearing up to confront Malcolm Turnbull at a dinner he’ll be at to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of when the Howard Government came in, which I can only picture going perfectly smoothly for everyone involved.
The Refugee Action Collective posted an event to their Facebook page, asking for folks to come protest offshore processing and asking for the closure of detention camps on Manus and Nauru.
The dinner will be held on Friday and will have speeches from former prime minister John Howard and current prime minister Malcolm Turnbull in addition to a whole bunch of Liberal Party ministers and MPs as guests, which would be worth the $1100 ticket price if you are a very strange person.
The RAC have chosen the event due to John Howard’s ties to Australia‘s current refugee policy:
“John Howard was the architect of offshore processing. With refugees on Manus and Nauru having spent over 1000 days imprisoned, we think there is nothing to celebrate. We will be protesting instead.”

In a weird coincidence, the National Union of Students and the Environment and Social Justice Office of the Monash Student Association (or NUSESJOMSA for short? I guess?) will also be protesting the event but for a completely different reason, namely to protest changes Turnbull is making to higher education. Sounds like it should be a wild time.
