A Whole Slew Of Celebrities Have Been Sucked In By An Idiotic Boomer Meme

Folks, celebrities be owning themselves online.

The long, sprawling comment threads usually reserved for your Great Aunt Agnes, warning of DRAMATIC CHANGES to Facebook or easy ways to make sure your account isn’t suddenly deleted, have found their way to our wise elite.

That’s right: a bunch of celebrities are posting to their Instagram accounts, flooding the digital cesspool with warnings that you simply must notify the world that you “do not give Instagram or any entities associated with Instagram permission to use my pictures.”

The list of names is long enough to make you uncomfortable: Usher posted it with the message “better safe than sorry.” Founder of Vice Media Shane Smith gave it a go, too. Debra Messing deleted the message after posting it to her IG grid, and then just uploading it to her IG Story, including some fire emoji and the message ‘post this on your Instagram.’ Thanks Debra.

Reporter Taylor Lorenz noted on Twitter that celebs like Julia Roberts and Judd Apatow  also posted the message – but it looks like whatever may have been there has since been deleted.

The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away: for every world-class talented singer or award winning actor given a career-making skill, they must trade off at least one other sensibility in order to maintain their enviable talents. In this case, that might be internet comprehension.

Or maybe there’s some celebrity/millionaire version of the boomer roleplay group on Facebook, but they all play along in real life because its more fun that way and they’re rich either way.
