Following the cancellation of Sweden‘s 2018 Bravalla Festival in the wake of a shocking number of sexual assaults, a Swedish personality is planning to hold a ‘man free’ music festival next year instead.
Comedian and broadcaster Emma Kynckare tweeted the concept after Bravalla went public with its plans to cancel next year’s fest, saying:
“What do you think about putting together a really cool festival where only non-men are welcome, that we’ll run until ALL men have learned how to behave themselves?”
Vad tror ni om att vi styr ihop en asfet festival dit bara icke män är välkomna som vi kör tills ALLA män har lärt sig hur en beter sig?

Within a matter of days, her vision had been solidified, and she’d posted an Insta update confirming that the no-dudes-allowed music festival would be going ahead:
“Sweden’s first man-free rock festival will see the light next summer.“In the coming days I’ll bring together a solid group of talented organisers and project leaders to form the festival organisers, then you’ll hear from everyone again when it’s time to move forward.”
Unsurprisingly, a lot of men feel that excluding them based on their gender is a bit unfair. But Knyckare told Swedish media:
“Since it seems to be OK to discriminate against women all the time, maybe it’s OK to shut out men for three days? I would not exactly call it an abuse not to come to the festival.”
Seems fairly unlikely that that’s going to stop a bunch of hair-trigger MRAs from suddenly deciding that the no-bros fest is the most unmissable event of 2018, and chucking a worldwide wobbly.
We look forward with interest to seeing how that goes.
