A Suss Amount Of $50 Notes Were Spotted Floating In A NSW Creek, So Brb Going Fishing

Police officers in Dapto, NSW were treated to a sneaky little fishing trip today after thousands of dollars were found in the local Mullet Creek.

A school aged boy found the large sum of cash floating down the creek near Bong Bong Road at around 9.20am this morning, 9News reports. Just gonna throw it out there, with a name like Bong Bong Road, I’ve got a sneaking suspicion this money might’ve been acquired from some, let’s just say… illegal shit.

According to Duty Officer Chief Inspector Bryan Pederson, the boy found the money and alerted an adult, who later contacted authorities. What a good kid. I would’ve definitely done the same thing because I am a law abiding citizen.

Local police, fire crews and the New South Wales SES crew all pitched in to help fish out the mysterious cash with a boat and some long-handled fishing nets that look like they were donated by Sharon in HR who has a pool. I’m not sure why it took three different emergency service forces to fish out a few fifties from a creek, but apparently this was some serious business.

Lake Illawarra District Police later confirmed the authenticity of the notes and are continuing the investigation to work out who owns the mysterious sum of cash, and what the heck it was doing floating down Dapto’s Mullet Creek.

If you accidentally dropped a wad of cash in Mullet Creek, or happen to know anything about this spicy situation, you should probably give Crime Stoppers a call on 1800 333 000.
