Comments on the image from the pub’s Facebook page show the same response, with locals saying they will only patronise The Old Bush Inn from now on, and congratulating them on the decision.

PEDESTRIAN.TV spoke to Andrew Cotman from Blogster-winning website Stoney Roads about the saturation of pokie machines and the effect that they have:

“The government’s campaign towards reducing ‘harm’ and somehow avoiding these shiny buzzing machines whose sole purpose is to drain your wallets and pour those profits into the two biggest owners (Woolworths and Coles) is downright disgraceful.

It is positive to see little steps like The Old Bush Inn removing such a social burden; it proves that other towns, cities and communities can take progressive measures that will hopefully resonate with the government.”

Nice work, Old Bush Inn – we stand with your choice! Fingers crossed for more pubs following suit.
