A Literal Tent In A Sydney Backyard Is Being Advertised To Rent For $130 P/W

Renting crisis? What renting crisis?

A literal tent in someone’s Sydney backyard is being advertised to rent for $130 per week, and that’s a red hot bargain, I say!

The post appeared in the Facebook group Inner West Housemates, and is currently doing the rounds online.

“We have a space available from May 24 onwards to stay at my place in Sydenham,” the post reads. (Reminder: it’s a tent.) “Includes all bills and $100/week of communal food that you can add to at your leisure. We are also part of a vege (sic) box collective. Please pm me if you are interested in viewing the space.” (The tent.) “You would have to be quite clean and take on responsibilities for cleaning in the house.” (The one in which you do not sleep.)

Interested? You’ll be sharing with five housemates, and the ideal candidate is someone “chilled out and communal minded.” Yes, I can see how max levels of chill would be a requirement for this living situation.

The tent is also advertised on Airbnb as a ‘swag tent’ (for $37 per night, minimum two nights stay), and it comes with some stringent house rules.

PEDESTRIAN.TV
reached out to the person who advertised the space with some key questions (did the previous tenant pay rent for the tent? How many bedrooms does the place have? How much is the rent overall?) which unfortunately remain unanswered. We were asked, however, to keep the person’s identity anonymous, which – well, fair enough.
