8 Y.O. Nicks Family Car For Macca’s Run After Learning to Drive On YouTube

An equally resourceful and peckish eight-year-old was caught after stealing his sleeping parents’ van for a venture to McDonald’s, with police claiming the kid used driving instructions he picked up from YouTube to make it there.

Police in East Palestine, Ohio marveled at the fact the young fella managed to drive the roughly 2.5km distance while respecting the rules of the road on Sunday night.

Patrolman Jacob Koehler could barely hide his admiration when he said “he didn’t hit a single thing on the way there. It was unreal.”

Witnesses report the kid stopped at red lights and waited for traffic to pass before making turns. Macca’s’ staff were convinced it was a prank when he pulled into the drive-through to order a cheeseburger, nuggets and fries.

Of course, it wasn’t. There were no parents in the back, just an underage road-user with a working knowledge of YouTube and a fistful of hard-earned pocket money.

Koehler said the kid, who also brought his 4-year-old sister along for the evening snack run, “probably looked it up for five minutes and then said it was time to go.”

A friend of the family clocked the scene and notified the kids’ grandparents. Koehler said that when he arrived, the lil’ one welled up, and was totally unaware that nicking the family whip to go on an impromptu burger expedition is, uh, illegal.
Their grandparents eventually picked up the young ones. Local media reports the kids were allowed to indulge in the burgs and nugs until they arrived. No charges were filed.
