5 People Hospitalised After Ferry Collides With Wharf At Circular Quay

18 people have been reported injured, five of which were hospitalised, following an accident in Circular Quay where a harbour Supercat crashed into a wooden barrier at Wharf 4.

An American tourist on the ferry said it just came to a sudden stop:
“It’s like we hit something and I went flying forward. Hit my chest against a steel bar, knocked back, someone fell on me.”
Initial reports said the vessel had had some trouble reversing, but the Office of Transport Safety Investigations says they’re still investigating what exactly went down:
“Transport for NSW is working with Sydney Ferries operator Harbour City Ferries and will fully cooperate with OTSI to identify the cause of the incident.”
Most of the injuries reported have been relatively minor, but one man was seen being carried off on a stretcher and is believed to have possibly suffered a spinal injury.
