Every single person that attended a COVID-19 spreader event in Sydney tested positive for the highly contagious Delta variant of the virus, *except* the ones who got vaccinated.
A birthday party that ended up turning into a fucked COVID-19 super spreader in Sydney is being used as a case study for getting vaccinated after every single attendee who wasn’t vaccinated tested positive.
The West Hoxton birthday party was attended by 30 people, and 24 of the attendees tested positive to COVID-19, with some transmitting it to their house contacts, too.
As it happens, the only six people who did *not* test positive, were all healthcare workers that had received some or all of their COVID-19 vaccinations.

“To emphasise just how important vaccinations are … not one of those 24 people were vaccinated,” NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said earlier today.
“I can also advise that six health workers who attended the party, who were fully vaccinated, not one of those people has been infected.”
One of the healthcare workers was an aged care worker that had only received their first dose, but they still didn’t contract the virus.
The virus would have had a near 100 per cent transmission rate it if wasn’t for the fact that those people had already had the jab, and now the party is being used as a case study for COVID-19 transmission and the effectiveness of the vaccine.
“Obviously, it’s an unfolding situation … but the early and strong indication from that party are if you’re vaccinated you are much more likely to not be infected with COVID-19.
“Short message is, get vaccinated.”
While I agree, that’s easier said than done with COVID-19 vaccines being hard to access given the government’s botched vaccine roll out and the fact that we straight up just don’t have enough for everyone. And then of course, there’s the fact that the vaccine situation has been changing constantly. First the AstraZenecca vaccine was only going to be available after October on request. Then, Australia’s regulatory body starting working towards approving the Moderna vaccine.
Lockdowns will keep happening until the vaccine rollout is fixed. This is a race – and Scott Morrison needs to get a move on.

Morrison is calling an “emergency” National cabinet tomorrow to distract from the fact people cannot actually get access to the vaccines he was meant to give them. It will be counterproductive & outrageous if they blame aged care workers for their failures

Hopefully the government gets its shit together and corrects the botched vaccine roll out ASAP, because telling people to get vaccinated but then not actually providing a proper means to get the vaccine is *not* it.
